Higher Ground Inc is the lovechild of Joint Coordinators, Suzanne Merrall & Dushyant Kumar, two highly inspired thespians with a passion for making the arts more accessible for artists and audiences alike. Formed in 2004, Higher Ground Inc is a not-for-profit incorporated association.

Adelaide performing and visual arts venue, Higher Ground Inc has moved to a new fabulous premises, and is taking bookings now from performing companies, bands, and shows, touring to or presenting in Adelaide in 2008 and beyond.

Higher Ground Inc is suitable for a variety of performances, concerts and shows. The new building features three unique spaces, a basement bar called, Art Base, a high ceiling café space called, Art Café and the Higher Ground Theatre.

Higher Ground Inc is known for its Adelaide Fringe seasons where it has, and will again in 2008, host a number of companies presenting music, theatre, comedy, dance, disability arts, visual art exhibitions, and clubs.

The new location at Light Square, adjacent Hindley Street, is located a stones' throw from two leading arts tertiary institutions and is in the heart of the 'West End Arts Precinct'.

Higher Ground Inc can offer a range of flexible options for touring artists. Featuring in-house production, front of house staff, a fully licensed bar and cafe, and marketing support through our 5000 run monthly program and on our website.

The clientele of Higher Ground Inc, is diverse, with a base of regulars and event specific patrons. Higher Ground Inc manages to create an environment which is creative and friendly to both young and old alike.

Third Time Lucky:
The new Higher Ground Inc venue is the third incarnation of Higher Ground Inc in Adelaide. After two short term leases, Higher Ground Inc has found a home with a long lease that the team believes is the right fit to be our home for the years to come.

Higher Ground Inc's mission is to provide an environment suitable for growth for the arts in all its forms. To this end, Higher Ground Inc, is known as a 'User Friendly Art Space' for both artists and audiences alike. If you are touring your show to Adelaide we are happy to help with support of local knowledge for accomadation, even billiting, media contacts, fun things to see and do while you are here and hosting you in a friendly environment where, on site, you can relax in our cafe and even party after your show in our club. 

What's with the Inc?
Higher Ground Inc is an Inc because it is a not-for-profit incorporated association. That means profits made, go back into supporting more projects like our Ground Up Theatre Residency Program, where emerging theatre companies are given free rehearsal space and a short season in the Higher Ground Theatre to develop new work.

Adelaide Fringe Season 2008 

February 23 to March 15
Higher Ground Inc will host a variety of companies presenting music cabaret, theatre, comedy and visual art during the 2008 Adelaide Fringe. Higher Ground Inc will again host it's popular Fringe Club Cabaret, over 19 nights get ready for a tantalising mix of vaudeville, burlesque, beauty, laughter, quirk and inspiration topped with some foot-stomping delights both live and on the decks. Expect the unexpected and fall in love!
